Facts about ADHD

The symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be categorised into 2 types of behavioural problems:

  • inattentiveness (difficulty concentrating and focusing)
  • hyperactivity and impulsiveness
  • ADHD is a particular problem when it comes to learning as it keeps students distracted and prevents them from absorbing the material

Tips & Tricks :

  • Agree on feedback methods in order to maintain contact and continually monitor progress.
  • Structure : Make sure to explain what will be covered, what is expected
  • Present the difficult material at the start of the lesson
  • Include a brief review of the previous lesson and recap at the end. Lay out expectations as simply as possible.
  • Prevent Boredom. Use roleplay, audio-visual exercices
  • Prevent distraction (noise level, outside distraction)
