Facts about ADHD
The symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be categorised into 2 types of behavioural problems:
- inattentiveness (difficulty concentrating and focusing)
- hyperactivity and impulsiveness
- ADHD is a particular problem when it comes to learning as it keeps students distracted and prevents them from absorbing the material
Tips & Tricks :
- Agree on feedback methods in order to maintain contact and continually monitor progress.
- Structure : Make sure to explain what will be covered, what is expected
- Present the difficult material at the start of the lesson
- Include a brief review of the previous lesson and recap at the end. Lay out expectations as simply as possible.
- Prevent Boredom. Use roleplay, audio-visual exercices
- Prevent distraction (noise level, outside distraction)
